Regal Angelfish Orange Juvenile

The Regal Angelfish, Orange Juvenile (Pygoplites diacanthus) is a peaceful species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its striking orange-and-blue coloration, bold vertical striping, and graceful swimming patterns.

Males typically display more vivid coloration with slightly larger body size, while females and juveniles tend to be smaller with subtler hues but equally eye-catching patterns. They reach about 9–10 inches in adulthood and should be housed in aquariums of at least 120 gallons.

 Provide ample live rock with caves and hiding spots, along with open swimming space to reduce stress and encourage natural grazing behavior. Maintain stable water parameters with salinity between 1.020–1.025, temperature 72–79°F, and pH 8.1–8.4, and ensure a secure lid as they may jump.

Their diet should consist of a variety of mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, quality marine pellets, and marine algae. With proper care, this fish becomes a standout addition to a reef or fish-only aquarium, bringing both elegance and vibrant color.
