Regal Angelfish Misbar, Bali Aquarich Juvenile

The Regal Angelfish Misbar, Bali Aquarich Juvenile (Pygoplites diacanthus) is a peaceful species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its brilliant coloration, unique misbar patterns, and graceful presence in aquariums.

Males typically display more vibrant and bold striping, while females and juveniles are often slightly duller in contrast but equally striking. They reach about 8–10 inches as adults and should be housed in aquariums of at least 120 gallons.

A habitat should include abundant live rock with caves and hiding spots, as well as open swimming areas, supported by a mature sandbed for a more natural environment. Stable water parameters are crucial, with salinity maintained between 1.020–1.025, temperature around 72–79°F, and pH levels of 8.1–8.4. A secure lid is recommended, as angelfish can occasionally jump.

Their diet should consist of a varied mix including mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, copepods, quality pellets, marine algae, and sponge-based foods to support long-term health. With proper care, this vibrant juvenile grows into a magnificent centerpiece that stands out in both reef and fish-only aquariums.
