The Invertebrate Reef Marble Sea Star (Fromia sp.) is a peaceful species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its vivid marble-like coloration, intricate patterns, moderate size, and delicate, symmetrical arms.
Males typically are slightly smaller with less pronounced arm patterns, while females and juveniles tend to be slightly larger and more brightly colored. They reach about 6–8 inches and should be housed in aquariums of at least 30 gallons.
Provide a sandy substrate, plenty of live rock for grazing, and open spaces for movement, along with stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temperature ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4) and a secure lid, as many sea stars are prone to climbing or accidental escapes.
Their diet should consist of microalgae, small invertebrates, and prepared marine foods like brine shrimp or mysis shrimp, and with proper care, this species makes a striking and captivating addition to a reef or marine aquarium.
