Redmouth

The Redmouth (Aethaloperca rogaa) is a semi-aggressive species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its striking red mouth contrasting with a dark body, subtle patterns, moderate size, and unique predatory behavior. Males are generally slightly larger and display more intense coloration around the mouth and fins, especially during breeding, while females and juveniles are smaller, darker, and have a less pronounced mouth. They reach about 12–16 inches in length and should be housed in aquariums of at least 180 gallons to provide ample space for swimming and territorial behavior. The aquarium should include a sandy substrate, abundant live rock, hiding spots, and open swimming areas, with stable water parameters maintained at a salinity of ~1.020–1.025, temperature 72–79°F, and pH 8.1–8.4. A secure lid is recommended as this species is prone to jumping. Their diet should consist of mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, small crustaceans, and high-quality meaty pellets. With proper care, the Redmouth makes a striking and dynamic addition to any large marine aquarium, captivating aquarists with its bold coloration and engaging behavior.

Several species will be import-to-order and may take anywhere from 3-10 business days to secure. Once your fish is secured, you will be notified, and the quarantine process will then begin.
