Red-Tail Tamarin Wrasse

The Redtail Tamarin Wrasse (Anampses chrysocephalus) is an expert-level species prized for its dramatic sexual dimorphism and striking reef-safe appearance. Females have a dark body dotted with white scales and a white tail edged with a vivid red band; males show more intense colors—bright orange/red head, electric blue spots or lines, darker body with iridescent flecks. Maximum size is about 5½ inches. Best kept in tanks of 120+ gallons with deep fine sand substrate, plenty of live rock for hiding and foraging, calm tankmates, and a secure lid since these wrasses are jumpers. Diet should be rich in live foods like copepods or amphipods, high quality frozen mysis and brine shrimp, and gradually introduced premium pellets once feeding reliably.

Sensitive species (Leopard Wrasses, Tamarin Wrasses, Deepwater species) have a small extra QT fee due to their special needs.

Several species will be import-to-order and may take anywhere from 3-10 business days to secure. Once your fish is secured, you will be notified, and the quarantine process will then begin.
