Red Spotted

My species/animal is a fish — Red Spotted Dottyback (Pholidochromis cerasina). It is a semi-aggressive species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its vibrant reddish-pink body with distinct red spotting, compact size, and cryptic behavior.

Males typically display slightly brighter coloration and may become territorial, especially during breeding, while females/juveniles tend to be less vivid and more passive in behavior. They reach about 2.5 to 3 inches in adult size and should be housed in aquariums of at least 20 gallons.

Provide plenty of live rock with hiding spots, stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temp ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4), and a secure lid since many species are prone to jumping.

Diet should consist of mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, copepods, finely chopped seafood, and high-quality marine pellets, and with proper care, this fish makes a standout addition to the aquarium.
