Red Sea Eight Line Flasher Wrasse

Red Sea Eight Line Flasher Wrasse (Paracheilinus octotaenia) is a reef-safe, peaceful flasher wrasse that lights up any aquarium with its striking display of eight horizontal blue lines running over a fiery red-orange body, accented by yellow highlights and elongated dorsal rays in males, while females and juveniles show more subtle striping and softer coloration. It grows to about 4 inches full size and thrives in aquariums of 50 gallons or larger, with open swimming areas, plenty of live rock for hiding and resting, fine sand substrate, stable reef water parameters (salinity ~1.020-1.025; temp ~72-78°F; pH ~8.1-8.4), and a tight lid since these wrasses are active jumpers. Diet should be meaty and varied—frozen mysis and brine shrimp, small crustaceans, copepods, and high-quality marine pellets offered multiple times daily to maintain peak health and coloration.
