The Red Diana Hogfish, Juvenile (Bodianus diana) is a semi-aggressive species that is considered reef-safe with caution, admired for its brilliant red coloration, striking white patches, elongated body shape, and active swimming behavior.

Males typically grow larger, developing stronger coloration and more dominant behavior, while females/juveniles are smaller with a slightly less intense color pattern. They reach about 16–18 inches in adulthood and should be housed in aquariums of at least 125 gallons to allow proper swimming space and growth.

Provide ample live rock for hiding spots and caves, a sandy substrate, and open swimming areas. A secure lid is essential, as they may jump when startled. Stable water parameters are critical: salinity 1.020–1.025, temperature 72–79°F, and pH 8.1–8.4.

Their diet should consist of meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, krill, chopped seafood, high-quality pellets, and occasionally copepods. They may pick at small invertebrates, so caution is needed in reef tanks. With proper care, the Red Diana Hogfish makes a vibrant and hardy centerpiece fish, bringing both beauty and personality to a marine aquarium.
