Red Cigar Wrasse

Red Cigar Wrasse (Hologymnosus rhodonotus) is a truly breathtaking centerpiece wrasse that turns heads with its bold red horizontal stripes on a mostly white body and dramatic yellow tail and fin accents. It has a semi-aggressive personality and is reef-safe with caution—it’ll do great in a large reef with peaceful tankmates but may pick on smaller fish or inverts if hungry or cramped. Adults reach about 10 inches in home aquariums. However at IA, we only sell juvenile variants of this fish. Best kept in tanks of at least 100 gallons, with deep fine sand substrate so it can bury itself when startled, lots of live rock, caves and crevices for hiding, open swimming space, and a very secure lid since it is known to jump. Diet must be rich in meaty fare—high-quality frozen seafood, mysis, brine shrimp, small crustaceans, and occasional live foods to keep its coloration vibrant.

International Aquatics Quarantine & Guarantee: All fish are checked by marine vets, given a formalin bath, and held for 14 days in copper-treated systems. On request, we also send photos/videos after arrival at IA.

Several species will be import-to-order and may take anywhere from 3-10 business days to secure. Once your fish is secured, you will be notified, and the quarantine process will then begin.
