Red Carpet Anemone

Red Carpet Anemone (Stichodactyla sp.) and is a semi-aggressive species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its vibrant red coloration, large flattened oral disc, and symbiotic relationship with clownfish. Males typically exhibit slightly more elongated tentacles and are slightly larger when fully mature, while females/juveniles tend to be smaller with shorter tentacles and brighter coloration. They reach about 12–18 inches and should be housed in aquariums of at least 50–75 gallons.

Provide a sandy substrate, live rock for attachment, open swimming space, and occasional hiding spots. Maintain stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temperature ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4), and ensure a secure lid since many species are prone to jumping. Diet should consist of mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, small pieces of fish, and occasional prepared invertebrate foods, and with proper care, this anemone makes a striking and interactive centerpiece in the aquarium, especially when hosting clownfish.
