Red Beadlet Anemone

Red Beadlet Anemone (Actinia equina), a semi-aggressive species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its vivid red coloration, compact size, and ability to attach firmly to rock surfaces. Males typically are slightly more elongated and robust, while females/juveniles tend to be smaller, rounder, and brighter in color. They reach about 1–2 inches in diameter and should be housed in aquariums of at least 20 gallons.

Provide live rock for attachment, sandbed, and crevices for hiding, along with open swimming space around the tank. Maintain stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temperature ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4) and a secure lid, as these anemones can occasionally move or “jump” in search of better attachment spots.

Diet should consist of small meaty foods like mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, and finely chopped seafood. With proper care, the Red Beadlet Anemone makes a striking and hardy addition to the marine aquarium, providing both color and interest to your reef setup.
