Randall's Tilefish

Randall's Tilefish (Hoplolatilus randalli) is a peaceful species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its vibrant coloration, intricate patterns, and elongated body shape. Males typically display slightly more intense coloration and may be a bit larger, while females and juveniles tend to have softer hues and smaller size. They reach about 8–10 inches in adult size and should be housed in aquariums of at least 75 gallons. Provide a deep sandbed for burrowing, ample live rock for shelter, and open swimming space. Maintain stable water parameters with salinity around 1.020–1.025, temperature between 72–79°F, and pH of 8.1–8.4. A secure lid is essential since many tilefish are prone to jumping. Their diet should consist of mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, and high-quality pellets or frozen foods. With proper care, Randall’s Tilefish makes a standout and visually striking addition to the aquarium.
