Rainbow Goby

The Rainbow Goby (Gunnelichthys curiosus) is a peaceful species that is reef-safe, admired for its vibrant iridescent coloration that shifts through hues of blue, green, and purple, slender elongated body, and unique darting swimming style. Males typically exhibit slightly brighter and more vivid colors during breeding displays, while females/juveniles are generally paler with less intense coloration and smaller in size.

They reach about 3 inches in adult size and should be housed in aquariums of at least 20 gallons. Provide a fine sandbed for burrowing, plenty of live rock with crevices for hiding, and open swimming space. Maintain stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020-1.025, temperature ~72-79°F, pH ~8.1-8.4), and a secure lid since many gobies are prone to jumping.

Diet should consist of small meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, and finely crushed pellets. With proper care, this fish makes a standout and colorful addition to reef or marine community aquariums.
