Rainbow Bulb Anemone

Rainbow Bulb Anemone (Entacmaea quadricolor). This is a semi-aggressive species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its vibrant coloration, bubble-tipped tentacles, large size, and striking patterns. Males typically exhibit slightly larger and more robust tentacles with vivid color intensity, while females/juveniles tend to be smaller, more translucent, and less vividly colored.

They reach about 12–16 inches and should be housed in aquariums of at least 30–50 gallons. Provide a combination of live rock for attachment, open swimming space, and a sandy substrate for optimal health, along with hiding spots for security. Maintain stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temperature ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4) and a secure lid, since many anemones are prone to moving or jumping.

Diet should consist of meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, and finely chopped seafood, supplemented occasionally with high-quality pellets. With proper care, this invertebrate becomes a standout centerpiece in any reef aquarium.
