Purple Masked Angelfish

The Purple Masked Angelfish (Paracentropyge venustus) is a semi-aggressive species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its striking violet and yellow coloration, unique facial mask, and compact size that makes it an extraordinary display fish.

 Males typically exhibit brighter hues and bolder markings, while females and juveniles tend to show softer shades with more subdued facial patterns. They reach about 4–5 inches in adulthood and should be housed in aquariums of at least 70 gallons.

Provide plenty of live rock with hiding spots and caves for security, along with open swimming space, stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temp ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4), and a secure lid since they are known to jump.

Their diet should consist of a mix of high-quality frozen foods such as mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, copepods, marine pellets, and algae-based offerings. With proper care and a carefully planned tank, this rare angelfish makes a standout addition to the aquarium, admired by both hobbyists and collectors alike.
