Privitera's Fairy Anthias

The Privitera's Fairy Anthias (Pyronotanthias privitera) is a peaceful species that is reef-safe, admired for its brilliant pink to orange coloration, elongated dorsal fin, compact size, and rarity in the aquarium trade. Males typically display more vibrant coloration with intense red-orange hues and longer, more elaborate fin extensions, while females/juveniles have a subtler pinkish appearance with shorter fins and slightly smaller bodies. They reach about 3 to 4 inches in length and should be housed in aquariums of at least 55 gallons, preferably in a harem with one male and several females.

Provide ample live rock for hiding spots, open swimming space, and moderate flow, along with stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temp ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4), and a secure lid, as anthias are known jumpers. Diet should consist of frequent small feedings of mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, copepods, and high-quality marine pellets or flakes, ideally offered several times per day due to their high metabolic rate. With proper care, the Privitera’s Fairy Anthias makes a stunning and rare showpiece for peaceful reef aquariums.
