Pink Line Sleeper Goby

Pink Line Sleeper Goby (Amblygobius sp.) is a peaceful species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its distinct horizontal pink or reddish line running along the body, subtle earth-toned coloration, sand-sifting behavior, and utility in keeping the substrate clean.

Males typically are slightly larger, may show more vivid coloration, and can become territorial during breeding, while females/juveniles tend to be smaller and exhibit softer coloration.

They reach about 4 to 5 inches in adult size and should be housed in aquariums of at least 30 gallons to allow for adequate foraging space and territory.

Provide a fine sandbed for burrowing and sifting, live rock for hiding spots and natural grazing areas, and some open swimming space. These gobies are known to dig and rearrange sand, so ensure rock structures are stable. A secure lid is essential as they are jumpers, especially when stressed or startled.

Maintain stable water parameters:

• Salinity: ~1.020–1.025

• Temperature: ~72–79°F

• pH: ~8.1–8.4

Diet should consist of mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, copepods, finely chopped seafood, and sinking pellets or algae wafers. Since they are sand sifters, a mature sandbed rich in microfauna can also help supplement their diet.

With proper care, the Pink Line Sleeper Goby makes a beautiful and functional addition to reef or peaceful community aquariums, admired both for its appearance and its natural cleaning behavior.
