Pink Hardtube Coco Worm

The Pink Hardtube Coco Worm (Protula bispiralis) is a peaceful species that is reef-safe, admired for its vivid pink, fan-like feeding tentacles emerging from hard calcareous tubes, small size, and ornamental presence in reef aquariums. This species is not sexually dimorphic in an obvious way, so males and females are generally similar in appearance, while juveniles display the same pink tentacles in a smaller form. They reach about 2–3 inches in length (tube plus tentacles) and should be housed in aquariums of at least 15–20 gallons.

Provide stable live rock or substrate for tube attachment, gentle water flow, and protection from strong currents. Maintain stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temp ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4). Being sessile, a secure lid is not required, but care should be taken to avoid water turbulence that could damage their delicate tentacles.

Diet should consist of planktonic foods such as phytoplankton, rotifers, and finely powdered or liquid marine foods. With proper care, this species makes a bright and charming addition to reef aquariums, adding both color and natural filtration benefits.
