Photon Black Clownfish, Hybrid

The fish — the Photon Black Clownfish, Hybrid (Amphiprion ocellaris × percula). It is a semi-aggressive species that is reef-safe, admired for its striking mix of deep black and orange coloration, bold white bands, and unique hybrid patterning.

Males typically remain smaller, more slender, and may show more active hosting or submissive behaviors, while females/juveniles grow larger, bulkier, and often become the dominant fish in a pair. They reach about 3–4 inches in adulthood and should be housed in aquariums of at least 20 gallons (larger if kept in pairs or community setups).

Provide live rock with hiding spots, a sandbed, and open swimming space, along with stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temperature ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4). A secure lid is essential, as clownfish can be prone to jumping.

Diet should consist of a varied mix of meaty foods (mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, copepods), high-quality marine pellets, and some algae-based foods for balance. With proper care, this fish makes a hardy, vibrant, and personality-filled addition to any reef or fish-only aquarium.
