The Philippine Damselfish (Pomacentrus philippinus) is a semi-aggressive species that is reef-safe, admired for its vibrant yellow coloration with hints of blue, small size, and active swimming behavior. Males typically display brighter, more intense colors during breeding and may become territorial, while females/juveniles are slightly duller in coloration but still attractive with their golden hues. They reach about 3 inches and should be housed in aquariums of at least 30 gallons.
Provide live rock for hiding spots and territories along with open swimming space, stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temp ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4), and a secure lid since many species are prone to jumping. Diet should consist of frozen mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, copepods, high-quality pellets, and some algae-based foods. With proper care, this fish makes a standout addition to the aquarium.
