Pelicieri Wrasse

Pelicieri Wrasse (Halichoeres pelicieri) is a stunning and rare reef-safe beauty that’s extremely sought after — a true gem for collectors. Males light up with blue/green bodies, a striking black band along the dorsal fin, and a bold yellow stripe that runs from the mouth all the way to the tail base; females share those gorgeous base colors but are more subtle, typically featuring a distinct black spot at the base of the caudal fin. They reach about 4 inches in adult size. Best housed in aquariums of at least 50 gallons, ideally more, with deep live rock for grazing and hiding, a fine sandy substrate (deep enough for burrowing/resting), stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020-1.025, temperature ~72-78°F, pH ~8.1-8.4), and a tight lid because wrasses are excellent jumpers. Diet should be meaty and varied: offer both live and frozen foods (mysis, brine shrimp, etc.), with algae-based items for enrichment. With its rarity, vibrant colors, and graceful behavior, it’s one of those fish that transforms a reef from ordinary into extraordinary.
