Pearl-Spotted Fairy Anthias

The Pearl-Spotted Fairy Anthias (Selenanthias analis) is a peaceful to semi-aggressive species that is reef-safe, admired for its delicate body, bright pink to orange coloration, distinctive pearly spots along the dorsal region, and graceful, schooling behavior. Males typically display brighter coloration with more pronounced pearly spots and slightly elongated fins, while females/juveniles are smaller, paler in color, and show less pronounced spotting. They reach about 3–4 inches and should be housed in aquariums of at least 60–80 gallons, ideally larger when keeping a group.

Provide live rock with plenty of hiding spaces, caves, and crevices, along with open swimming areas to mimic their natural reef slope environment. Stable water parameters are essential (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temp ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4), and a secure lid is recommended as anthias are known to jump.

Their diet should consist of frozen mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, and high-quality micro pellets, offered in small, frequent feedings throughout the day to match their high metabolism. With proper care, the Pearl-Spotted Fairy Anthias is a colorful, active, and reef-compatible addition that brings elegance and movement to the marine aquarium.
