Pearl Blenny

Pearl Blenny (Entomacrodus nigricans) is a peaceful species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its mottled brown-and-cream coloration, pearly speckled patterning, algae-grazing habits, and quirky personality.

Males typically develop slightly larger bodies and may show more intense coloration during courtship or territorial displays, while females/juveniles remain smaller, with subtler patterns.

They reach about 4–5 inches in adult size and should be housed in aquariums of at least 30 gallons. Provide ample live rock with crevices and hiding spots, some sandy substrate, and stable aquascaping for perching and grazing, along with a secure lid since many blennies are prone to jumping.

Diet should consist of a mix of marine algae, spirulina-based foods, enriched mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, and high-quality pellets formulated for omnivores/herbivores.

With proper care, this fish makes a hardy, active, and personality-filled addition to the aquarium, often becoming a favorite centerpiece for marine hobbyists.
