Patch-Reef Goby

Patch-Reef Goby (Coryphopterus tortugae) is a peaceful species that is reef-safe, admired for its delicate translucent body with fine speckled patterns, small compact size, and subtle yet charming behavior.

Males typically exhibit slightly brighter coloration and may display territorial behavior during breeding periods, while females and juveniles tend to be smaller and show more subdued colors with less pattern contrast.

They reach about 1.5 to 2 inches in adult size and should be housed in aquariums of at least 10 gallons, though a 20-gallon or larger tank is preferable for groups or more natural behavior expression.

Provide a sandy substrate, scattered live rock rubble, numerous hiding spots among coral crevices, and moderate open swimming space. Stable water parameters should be maintained: Salinity ~1.020–1.025 Temperature ~72–79°FpH ~8.1–8.4

A secure lid is important since this species is prone to jumping when startled.

Diet should consist of small meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, baby brine shrimp, copepods, and finely crushed pellets. With proper care, this fish makes a standout addition to nano reef or peaceful community tanks, especially valued for its understated beauty and peaceful temperament.
