Pascalus Anthias

The Pascalus Anthias (Mirolabrichthys pascalus) is a peaceful species that is reef-safe, admired for its brilliant pink to violet body coloration, graceful schooling behavior, and smaller size compared to many other anthias. Males typically exhibit more vivid coloration with subtle orange or reddish highlights and may develop slightly elongated fins, while females/juveniles tend to have a more uniform pink or lavender tone with shorter fins and a smaller body structure. They reach about 3 to 4 inches in length and should be housed in aquariums of at least 55 gallons, though larger tanks are ideal for groups.

Provide ample live rock for hiding places, open swimming space, and moderate water flow, along with stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temp ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4), and a secure lid, as anthias are known to jump. Diet should consist of frequent, small feedings of high-quality foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, and finely chopped seafood, supplemented with pellets or flakes for variety. With proper care and a peaceful environment, this fish makes a colorful and active addition to a reef aquarium.
