Orangelined Cardinalfish

The Orangelined Cardinalfish (Archamia fucata) is a peaceful species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its slender body marked by striking orange longitudinal stripes running from head to tail, translucent fins, and moderate size. Males typically develop slightly more intense orange coloration and may show subtle fin elongation during breeding, while females and juveniles have softer, less vivid coloration.

They reach about 3 to 4 inches in adult size and should be housed in aquariums of at least 30 gallons.

Provide a sandy substrate with ample live rock formations, plenty of caves and crevices for hiding, as well as open swimming space. Stable water parameters should be maintained with salinity around 1.020-1.025, temperature between 72-79°F, and pH from 8.1-8.4. A secure lid is necessary since this species is prone to jumping.

Diet should consist of meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, and high-quality pellets or flakes. With proper care, the Orangelined Cardinalfish makes a peaceful and colorful addition to reef and marine aquariums.
