Orange Linckia Sea Star

Orange Linckia Sea Star (Linckia sp.) is a peaceful species that is reef-safe, admired for its brilliant orange coloration, smooth body, and striking star-shaped symmetry. Males typically appear indistinguishable from females, while juveniles are smaller and often paler until they mature. They reach about 12 inches in diameter and should be housed in aquariums of at least 100 gallons. Provide plenty of mature live rock with biofilm and algae growth, stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temp ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4), and excellent stability since they are very sensitive to sudden changes.

Diet should consist of film algae, detritus, and microorganisms naturally growing on live rock, as they rarely accept prepared foods. With proper care, this species makes a standout addition to the aquarium, though it requires a well-established tank and experienced aquarist to thrive.
