Orange Frilly Sponge

Orange Frilly Sponge (Agelasidae sp.) is a peaceful species that is reef-safe, admired for its bright orange coloration, frilly growth form, and unique branching structure.

Males typically do not differ visibly from females, while juveniles appear as smaller, less developed versions of the adults.

They reach about 6–12 inches in diameter (depending on growth and aquascaping) and should be housed in aquariums of at least 30 gallons, though larger systems are recommended for stable conditions.

Provide ample live rock for attachment, moderate to strong water flow, and shaded areas, as sponges generally avoid direct intense light. Maintain stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temp ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4).

Unlike fish, sponges are non-motile filter feeders and do not require a secure lid.

Diet should consist of microplankton, dissolved organic matter, phytoplankton, and sponge-specific liquid or powdered foods delivered in fine particle form. Strong, consistent water flow is critical for feeding and waste removal.

Several species will be import-to-order and may take anywhere from 3-10 business days to secure. Once your fish is secured, you will be notified, and the quarantine process will then begin.
