Orange Bar Goby

The Orange Bar Goby (Amblyeleotris sp.) is a peaceful species that is reef-safe, admired for its elongated slender body, striking orange vertical bars along its sides, and its fascinating symbiotic relationship with pistol shrimp.

Males typically grow slightly larger and may display more vivid coloration, while females and juveniles remain smaller with softer tones. They reach about 4–5 inches in length and should be housed in aquariums of at least 30 gallons.

Provide a fine sandbed for burrowing, live rock for stability and hiding spots, and open swimming space. Stable water parameters are essential (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temp ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4), and a secure lid is necessary, as they are known jumpers.

Diet should consist of mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, copepods, finely chopped meaty foods, and high-quality pellets. With proper care, this goby makes a beautiful and engaging addition to reef aquariums, especially when paired with a pistol shrimp for natural behavior display.
