Orange Axil Wrasse (Stethojulis bandanensis) is a vibrant, reef-safe wrasse with elegant movement and dynamic coloration that shimmers under good lighting. Males display olive and green tones with bright streaks and a narrow blue stripe through the pectoral-base region, while females and juveniles tend toward softer reds, muted shades, and subtle spots. It reaches about 6 inches (15 cm) in full size. Best housed in tanks of 100 gallons or more, with deep fine sand for burying, lots of rock for hiding and hunting, stable reef water parameters (SG ~1.020–1.025; temp ~75-82°F; pH ~8.1–8.4), and a tight lid (this species is a jumper). Diet should include small crustaceans, planktonic fare, mysis and brine shrimp, and frequent feedings to keep it thriving.
