Olive Anthias

The Olive Anthias (Pseudanthias olivaceus) is a peaceful species that is reef-safe, admired for its subtle olive-green coloration, graceful swimming, moderate size, and slender body with delicate fin extensions. Males typically display a more vivid olive-green hue with hints of yellow and elongated dorsal fins, while females/juveniles have a softer, more muted green coloration with shorter fins and a slightly smaller body. They reach about 4 to 5 inches in length and should be housed in aquariums of at least 75 gallons, preferably in groups to allow natural social behavior.

Provide plenty of live rock for hiding spots and territories, open swimming space, and moderate water flow, with stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temp ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4), and a secure lid as this species is prone to jumping. Diet should consist of a varied mix of meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, and high-quality pellets or flakes. With proper care, the Olive Anthias makes a beautiful and peaceful addition to a reef community aquarium.
