Noble Anthias

The Noble Anthias (Pseudanthias nobilis) is a peaceful species that is reef-safe, admired for its vibrant coloration, intricate patterns, and active mid-water swimming behavior. Males typically have striking purple and pink hues with a golden-orange gradient on the fins and a more elongated body shape. Females/juveniles are smaller with more subdued pink and orange coloration, lacking the vibrant gradients seen in males. They reach about 4–5 inches in length and should be housed in aquariums of at least 70 gallons.

Provide live rock for hiding, open swimming space, and a secure lid since many anthias species are prone to jumping. Stable water parameters should be maintained (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temperature ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4).

Diet should consist of mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, and high-quality pellets, with multiple feedings per day to accommodate their high metabolism. With proper care, this fish makes a standout addition to any reef aquarium.
