Newton's Wrasse

Newton’s Wrasse (Thalassoma newtoni) is a striking and active species that commands a special place in larger marine setups. Males develop bold blue and green hues with a yellow stripe near the gill, while juveniles often show yellow to pale bodies with a dark mid-body stripe; females transition through more subdued tones and striping before full adult color. It grows to about 6 inches and is best housed in tanks of 75 gallons or more with deep sand for burying, plenty of live rock for hunting and hiding, open swimming space, and a secure lid (this wrasse is a jumper). Diet should be omnivorous: small crustaceans, mysis, brine shrimp, and finely chopped seafood offered frequently.
