Neon Red Pygmy Goby

The Neon Red Pygmy Goby (Eviota nigriventris) is a peaceful species that is reef-safe, admired for its vibrant neon red coloration, small size, and delicate translucent fins. Males typically exhibit brighter and more intense coloration, especially during breeding periods, while females and juveniles have softer hues and a slightly more translucent appearance.

They reach about 1 to 1.2 inches in adult size and should be housed in aquariums of at least 10 gallons to provide adequate space for swimming and territorial behavior.

Provide a fine sandbed, abundant live rock for hiding spots, and open swimming areas to replicate their natural reef environment. Maintain stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020-1.025, temp ~72-79°F, pH ~8.1-8.4), and ensure a secure lid since this species is prone to jumping.

Diet should consist of small meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, and finely crushed pellets or flakes. With proper care, the Neon Red Pygmy Goby makes a vibrant and captivating addition to any marine aquarium.
