Neon Gold Pygmy Goby

The Neon Gold Pygmy Goby (Eviota atriventris) is a peaceful species that is reef-safe, admired for its vibrant golden-yellow coloration with neon accents, tiny size, and delicate, intricate fin patterns. Males typically display slightly brighter coloration and may exhibit more elongated fins during breeding displays, while females and juveniles tend to have softer hues and smaller overall size.

They reach about 1 to 1.5 inches in adult size and should be housed in aquariums of at least 10 gallons due to their small size but active nature.

Provide a fine sandbed, plenty of live rock with numerous hiding spots, and open swimming space to mimic their natural reef environment. Maintain stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020-1.025, temp ~72-79°F, pH ~8.1-8.4), and use a secure lid as this species is prone to jumping.

Diet should consist of small meaty foods like mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, and finely crushed pellets or flakes, ensuring they receive adequate nutrition. With proper care, this diminutive but colorful fish makes a standout addition to nano reef and small marine aquariums.
