The Naked Cinnamon Clownfish (Amphiprion melanopus) is a semi-aggressive species that is considered reef-safe with caution, admired for its deep reddish-orange body coloration, lack of white stripes (the “naked” morph), hardy nature, and strong symbiotic relationship with anemones.

Males are typically smaller, slimmer, and more submissive, while females grow larger, more dominant, and display stronger territorial behavior, with juveniles being smaller and less aggressive until maturity.

This clownfish reaches about 4–5 inches as an adult and should be housed in aquariums of at least 30 gallons. An ideal setup includes live rock with hiding spots, a sandy substrate, and open swimming space; although a host anemone is not required, it can encourage more natural behavior. Stable water conditions are essential, with salinity maintained between 1.020–1.025, temperature ranging from 72–79°F, and pH between 8.1–8.4. A secure lid is recommended, as clownfish may jump.

Being omnivorous, their diet should consist of mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, copepods, high-quality pellets, and occasional marine algae. Hardy and resilient, the Naked Cinnamon Clownfish makes a standout and colorful addition to a well-maintained marine aquarium.
