Mexican Rainbow Wrasse

Mexican Rainbow Wrasse, also known as the Cortez Wrasse (Thalassoma lucasanum), is a hardy, active, and brilliantly colored wrasse native to the Eastern Pacific. Juveniles often appear with bold black, white, and orange striping, while adults transform into dazzling blends of green, blue, yellow, and red, making them a standout in any display. They reach about 6 inches full size and are best suited for aquariums of at least 90 gallons, with plenty of open swimming space, rocky shelters, and a sandy bottom. A secure lid is essential, as they are strong jumpers. This species is generally semi-aggressive and best kept with other similarly sized, robust fish in a FOWLR or mixed community system, though it may pick at small invertebrates. Their diet should include a wide variety of meaty foods such as mysis, brine shrimp, krill, chopped seafood, and high-quality marine pellets or frozen blends to fuel their constant activity and vibrant coloration.
