The Metallic Green Carpet Anemone (Stichodactyla sp.) is a semi-aggressive species that is considered reef-safe with caution, admired for its vibrant metallic-green coloration, broad oral disc, sticky tentacles, and its unique ability to host clownfish.
Males and females are not visibly distinct, as anemones are hermaphroditic and can change sex; juveniles are typically smaller and lighter in color compared to mature adults.
They reach about 12–24 inches in diameter when fully grown and should be housed in aquariums of at least 75–100 gallons (larger is strongly recommended due to their potential size and movement).
Provide a deep sandbed (2–4 inches) and live rock for attachment, along with open space to prevent them from stinging nearby corals or other invertebrates. Stable water parameters are critical:
Salinity: 1.020–1.025
Temperature: 72–79°F
pH: 8.1–8.4
A secure lid is recommended—not because anemones jump, but because their clownfish hosts or tank mates may.
Diet: Although primarily photosynthetic (via symbiotic zooxanthellae), Metallic Green Carpet Anemones benefit from supplemental feeding. Offer mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, silversides, krill, and other meaty marine foods once or twice weekly.
With proper care, this anemone becomes a stunning centerpiece in a reef aquarium, especially when paired with hosting clownfish.

Several species will be import-to-order and may take anywhere from 3-10 business days to secure. Once your fish is secured, you will be notified, and the quarantine process will then begin.
