My species/animal is a fish — the Melon Butterflyfish (Chaetodon trifasciatus). It is a peaceful species that is not reef-safe, admired for its vibrant orange to reddish body with intricate blue horizontal stripes, a bold black eye band, and a distinctive vertical black stripe near the tail. Its vivid coloration and delicate body shape make it a visually striking and exotic addition to large marine aquariums.
Males typically look similar to females, as this species shows no significant sexual dimorphism; however, males may display slightly more territorial or dominant behavior during courtship. Females/juveniles closely resemble adults, though juveniles often show slightly duller coloration that becomes more vivid as they mature.
They reach about 6 inches in adult size and should be housed in aquariums of at least 75 gallons.
Provide ample live rock for grazing and hiding, open swimming space, and a sandy or fine substrate, stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temp ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4), and a secure lid since many species are prone to jumping.
Diet should consist of frozen mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, sponge-based frozen preparations, finely chopped seafood, and high-quality marine pellets and flakes. They are known to graze on corals and sessile invertebrates, and with proper care this fish makes a standout addition to the aquarium.

Several species will be import-to-order and may take anywhere from 3-10 business days to secure. Once your fish is secured, you will be notified, and the quarantine process will then begin.
