McCullochi Clownfish

McCullochi Clownfish (Amphiprion mccullochi)is  a semi-aggressive species that is reef-safe, admired for its rich chocolate-brown coloration, contrasting white headband and tail band, and rarity in the aquarium trade.

Males typically stay smaller, are less dominant, and may display submissive quivering behaviors, while females/juveniles grow larger, become more dominant, and often take on the role of the protector within their territory.

They reach about 4–4.5 inches in adult size and should be housed in aquariums of at least 30 gallons (larger if keeping a pair or with other tankmates).

Provide ample live rock for hiding spots and territory, a sandbed, and some open swimming space, along with stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temp ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4), and a secure lid since many clownfish are prone to jumping.

Diet should consist of a varied mix of mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, copepods, quality marine pellets, and occasional algae or seaweed.

With proper care, this fish makes a standout, rare, and rewarding addition to a reef aquarium.
