Maxima Clam

The Maxima Clam (Tridacna maxima) is a peaceful species that is reef-safe, admired for its brilliant electric-blue to deep purple coloration, striking mantle patterns, and compact size that makes it ideal for home reef aquariums.

Males typically display more intense coloration and slightly smaller overall size, while females/juveniles grow more rapidly and may have subtler pattern development that becomes more defined with age. They reach about 6 to 12 inches in adult size and should be housed in aquariums of at least 50 gallons.

Provide a stable rock or clam cradle for secure attachment, strong lighting (preferably metal halide or high-output LED) to support their symbiotic zooxanthellae, and stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temp ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4). While Maxima Clams don’t jump, a secure lid is still recommended to protect other livestock and maintain tank stability.

Diet should consist primarily of photosynthesis (from intense lighting), though juveniles may benefit from supplemental phytoplankton or marine snow. With proper care and pristine water quality, this clam makes a vibrant and eye-catching addition to any reef tank, prized by hobbyists for both beauty and biodiversity

Several species will be import-to-order and may take anywhere from 3-10 business days to secure. Once your fish is secured, you will be notified, and the quarantine process will then begin.
