Mauritius Flasher Wrasse (Paracheilinus piscilineatus) is one of the rarest flasher wrasses on earth, found only in the biogeographic zone around Mauritius and Réunion, making it a true trophy fish for collectors. Males erupt in vibrant color—yellows, oranges, reds, irregular blue striping, with flared dorsal and caudal fins and light yellow trim edged in blue; females are more subdued but still beautifully patterned. It grows to about 3-4 inches. Best kept in a tank of at least 40 gallons, ideally more, with deep sand and plenty of live rock for hiding/resting, very stable water (salinity ~1.020-1.025; temp ~75-82°F; pH ~8.1-8.4), and a very secure lid since this wrasse is a notorious jumper. Diet must be rich in meaty fare—frozen mysis, brine shrimp, small crustaceans, and quality marine preparations—offered multiple small meals per day to bring out and maintain its full, explosive coloration.
