Unless marked, all livestock comes with our 15-Day Guarantee. You will receive a video of your fish eating before shipment. For size preference please add a note on your order and we will match your fish to your requested size. Malu Anemone (Heteractis malu) is a peaceful to semi-aggressive species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its elegant tentacles, subtle coloration (often cream, tan, or light brown), and symbiotic relationship with clownfish. Unlike some other hosting anemones, it tends to stay lower in the sandbed, making it less likely to wander extensively across the tank.
Males and females do not show visible differences, but juveniles often display shorter, stubby tentacles, which elongate as they mature. They typically reach about 12–14 inches in diameter when fully expanded and should be housed in aquariums of at least 40–55 gallons.
Provide a deep sandy substrate for it to bury its foot securely, along with live rock structures for stability and protection. Stable water parameters are essential: salinity ~1.020–1.025, temperature ~72–79°F, and pH ~8.1–8.4. Ensure moderate to strong lighting (as they host zooxanthellae and require photosynthesis) and moderate water flow.
Their diet should consist of meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, krill, and finely chopped seafood, offered occasionally to supplement their photosynthetic needs. With proper care and stable conditions, the Malu Anemone makes a stunning and rewarding addition to a marine aquarium, especially when paired with compatible clownfish species.

On request, we also send photos/videos after arrival at IA. Some species are import-to-order (3-10 business days). Many common species are already cleared or near the end of QT.
Several species will be import-to-order and may take anywhere from 3-10 business days to secure. Once your fish is secured, you will be notified, and the quarantine process will then begin.
