Maculosis Angelfish, Juvenile

The Maculosis Angelfish, Juvenile (Pomacanthus maculosus) is a semi-aggressive species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its striking transition in coloration, bold patterns, and large adult size.

Males typically develop a deep bluish body with a large golden-yellow patch on their midsection and elongated dorsal and anal fins, while females/juveniles display vibrant blue bodies with distinct vertical white bars that gradually fade as they mature.

They reach about 18 inches in adulthood and should be housed in aquariums of at least 220 gallons. Provide ample live rock for grazing and hiding spots, a sandy substrate, and open swimming space. Maintain stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temp ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4), and ensure a secure lid since angelfish can be active swimmers and may jump.

Diet should consist of a varied mix of mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, spirulina, marine algae, high-quality pellets, and sponge-based foods to support their long-term health.
