The Lizard Blenny (Parapercis sp.) is a peaceful species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its elongated body, lizard-like head shape, striking patterns, and perching behavior.
Males typically display brighter coloration and may show more territorial behavior, while females/juveniles are usually smaller with more subdued markings. They reach about 6–8 inches in adult size and should be housed in aquariums of at least 50 gallons.
Provide a sandy substrate and ample live rock with hiding spots, along with open swimming space. Ensure stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temp ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4), and a secure lid since they are known to jump.
Their diet should consist of meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, copepods, finely chopped seafood, and quality sinking pellets. With proper care, this fish makes a standout and fascinating addition to a marine aquarium.
