Lightning Wrasse

Lightning Wrasse (Halichoeres cyanocephalus) is a striking and bold addition for those looking to elevate their marine display. It is semi-aggressive and reef-safe with caution, loved for its vibrant adult coloration—electric blue body with yellow cheek and back bands that intensify with age—and for its juvenile stage where purple and yellow dominate. It grows to about 10-12 inches. Best kept in large aquariums of at least 125 gallons, with plenty of live rock for hiding and grazing, a deep sandy substrate for burying and resting, stable water chemistry, and a tight lid since it’s an expert jumper. Diet should be rich and varied: meaty frozen foods like mysis and brine shrimp, small crustaceans, and high-quality marine pellets or flakes once feeding reliably.
