"Leucistic Phase" Longnose Butterflyfish (Forcipiger longirostris) is a peaceful species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its unique pale leucistic coloration, elongated snout, and graceful swimming behavior. This rare morph stands out due to its reduced pigmentation compared to the typical bright yellow of the species, making it a collector’s gem for marine enthusiasts.

Males typically grow slightly larger with more elongated snouts and display bolder territorial behavior, while females/juveniles are smaller, with shorter snouts and more subdued features. They reach about 8–9 inches in adulthood and should be housed in aquariums of at least 120 gallons to allow for proper swimming space.

Provide ample live rock with crevices for foraging, open swimming space, and a secure lid since this species is prone to jumping. Maintain stable water parameters (salinity 1.020–1.025, temperature 72–79°F, pH 8.1–8.4) for long-term health.

Diet should consist of frozen mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, copepods, finely chopped seafood, high-quality pellets, and occasional algae-based foods. With proper care, this rare leucistic morph makes a standout showpiece addition to any large marine aquarium.
