Koran Angelfish

The Koran Angelfish (Pomacanthus semicirculatus) is a semi-aggressive species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its stunning transition from juvenile to adult coloration, bold patterns, and large size.

Males typically display vibrant blue-green scales with a reticulated pattern and yellow highlights on the fins, while females and juveniles are more dark blue with striking electric-blue semicircular stripes that fade as they mature.

They reach about 15 inches in adulthood and should be housed in aquariums of at least 180 gallons. Provide ample live rock for grazing and hiding spots, along with open swimming space. Maintain stable water parameters: salinity ~1.020–1.025, temperature 72–79°F, and pH 8.1–8.4. A secure lid is recommended since angelfish may jump.

Their diet should consist of a varied mix of mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, spirulina, high-quality angelfish pellets, marine algae, and sponge-based foods. With proper care, this fish makes a majestic and standout addition to a large aquarium.
