Klunzinger's Wrasse

Klunzinger’s Wrasse (Thalassoma rueppellii) is a stunning, reef-associated wrasse admired for its vibrant striping and nonstop activity. Adults display an iridescent mix of green and blue with bold vertical red stripes and radiant facial markings, making them a true showpiece in larger aquariums. They reach up to 11 inches in adult size and should be housed in systems of at least 180 gallons, with open swimming areas, rocky structures for shelter, and a sandy substrate. A secure lid is essential, as they are powerful jumpers. While hardy and active, this species is semi-aggressive and best suited for FOWLR or large, robust community tanks rather than delicate reef aquariums, since they may pick at invertebrates. Their diet should be rich in meaty foods such as mysis, brine shrimp, krill, clams, chopped seafood, and high-quality marine pellets or frozen blends to fuel their high energy and maintain their striking coloration.
