Katherine’s Fairy Wrasse (Cirrhilabrus katherinae) is a peaceful, reef-safe species that brings vibrancy and graceful motion to the aquarium. Males grow to about 3½ inches and display brilliant color contrast—green-to-blue body shadings with red, white, purple and black accents—while females/juveniles are more subdued, often reddish with a spot on the caudal peduncle. Best kept in tanks of at least 90 gallons with ample live rock for hiding and grazing, spots to swim freely, a fine sandbed, stable water parameters, and a secure lid since wrasses are jumpers. Their diet should include meaty foods such as mysis and brine shrimp and copepods, supplemented with quality pellets once acclimated. Because they are somewhat sensitive and rare, consistent care and a calm environment reward you with one of the more showy fairy wrasses.
